If you have listened for any length of time you will notice a wide range of musical styles. I play hard rock, soft rock, southern Gospel and country and even a few punk rock songs. I enjoy all the styles of music, except for rap, lol.

I know most songs you hear on HymnJimsRadio.com will never be heard in a "Church" service but that does not mean they do not glorify God in some way. There is a belief out there among some Christians that certain styles of music is not glorifying to God, does not edify Gods people and is basically wrong for Christians to play or listen to. Obviously I do not believe that myself as you can tell.

Why is it that some don't think rock music and contemporary Christian music is right? While I think their motivation is in the right place but I don't believe their argument has merit. One reason some people don't listen to Christian rock is that they believe many Christian musicians have the same appearance in dress and personal hygiene as the worldly musicians. Long hair on men with tattoos, painted faces and piercings, women in skimpy clothes with lots of make-up is not their idea of what a "Christian" should look like. Personally I think because they see a few groups like that they think all the groups are like that. In reality very few Christian groups do the worldly look thing. In fact today many churches are very casual in their dress and even some preachers will stand in the pulpit dressed in jeans and sneakers. Is that right? I will leave that up to their church and their conscience before God.

I believe all musicians, Christian or not, just love music, enjoy using their gift to glorify God and edify the young people and those of us who are still young at heart. I leave the rest up to their conscience and their relationship with God.

I will continue to play almost all styles of music and the songs I like. I am not trying to convert other Christians into accepting what I like and telling them they are wrong. In their minds they are right and they too will answer to God for their thoughts and actions. HymnJimsRadio is for those who enjoy listening to the wide range of contemporary music styles while praising God. If some don't like the style they are free to not listen. But they are missing out, in my opinion.

May God bless you.]]>
<![CDATA[Easter Music]]>Thu, 28 Mar 2013 00:15:36 GMThttp://www.hymnjimsradio.com/1/post/2013/03/easter-music.html What a wonderful time of the year. Spring has sprung. The air is getting warmer, flowers are growing and trees are leafing, birds are singing and people are outside more. And Sunday is Easter.

Easter is actually a pagan word and it was celebration of Isis, or the female Sun Goddess. Its timing was close to that of the Passover Jewish holiday and soon the two worlds collided into one Christian holiday of Easter.

I prefer to call Easter Resurrection Sunday or Resurrection Day. However since our culture recognizes Easter as Christian and not pagan it is a good time for all Christians who celebrate the Good News of what Jesus Christ has done to take advantage of the opportunity to educate our non Christian friends and family and witness for Jesus.

Resurrection themed music is some of the best music to listen to and some of the best songs are about the resurrection. I think of Don Fransisco "He's Alive" and Annie Herrings "Easter Song" as two of my favorites but I play a wide selection of resurrection songs on HymnJimsRadio.com.
Bob Bennett "He Still Rolls The Stone" and Cindy Morgans "Alive and Well" I really enjoy. Dana Keys "Up From The Dead" is great as well.

The message of the resurrection is the most significant message that the world has ever heard. It is the Good News. Jesus came, lived a perfect, sinless life and died as a substitutionary sacrifice or atonement for His people. Then He rose again. Dallas Holm captured that wonderfully in his song "Rise Again". Those of us who believe the evidence and are convinced that Jesus did actually accomplish what He set out to do, should be willing to tell the world this message. Jesus has risen up from the dead and He is the Savior.

All anyone has to do is believe in Him. That is it. They don't have to do anything. Just believe. And God through the power of the Holy Spirit living in that person will conform them into the image of His Son. That is good news. Good News. And now that Jesus died He said if we do believe in Him we will never die. That is right. Oh, this flesh must die but the real us, who we really are, will live with Him forever. What a glorious message.

So if you are a Christian already, tell somebody about Jesus. If you do not know Jesus as Lord and Savior, open your Bible and read the Gospel story. There are 4 gospels in the Bible and Jesus' story is great in all of them. you can read the Gospel According To Mark in less than 2 hours. What is 2 hours compared to eternity. Take the time today and get to know Jesus.

If you want to talk about it more, just email me. i would be happy to hear from you.

May God Bless you and Happy Resurrection Day.

<![CDATA[So Much Time Working On Station]]>Sun, 09 Dec 2012 16:12:11 GMThttp://www.hymnjimsradio.com/1/post/2012/12/so-much-time-working-on-station.htmlWhat a month! I have spent so much time trying to get this site and my radio station to work properly so when you click in to listen you will hear clear sounding music without getting disconnected. Over the last 2 months my stream was being constantly disconnected. There were many times when I went to listen myself and there was nothing playing. I don't know how many times that may have happened to you, my listeners. I do know this- my listeners have dramatically decreased. In trying to pinpoint the cause for all the disconnections, I have decided to leave the company I bought my stream through after Loudcaster closed and my affiliation with them will end on December 11.
I added a new 64 bit stream from a new company and in testing their stream I have not been disconnected once in over 2 weeks of broadcasting. I also have signed up with RadioLoyalty, which is a 128 bit stream but it has ads on its radio player page. I can also gain revenue from this stream when listeners join up with RadioLoyalty and when someone clicks on the ads. I can also insert ads into my playlist but i am not sure if I will do that. I do not really want to but it is costly to run an internet radio station and I could use the monetary support I could get from the ads.

Right now all three streams are playing the same song from the same source. In the future, after downloading all my songs into the new 64 bit stream I will not have ads on that stream. Only on the RadioLoyalty stream will have ads. Then I basically will have 2 Radio stations playing my songs but not sharing the same source so there will be different songs playing on each stream. I hope that is clear.
You can see the links to the new streams at the top of this page and the Home page.
I thank you for taking the time to read this blog message and trust you will give HymnJimsRadio another listen. Please leave a comment on this blog or fill in the comment section on the Home page or facebook page.
I pray God will bless you all.

<![CDATA[Trick Or Treat?]]>Wed, 31 Oct 2012 15:13:06 GMThttp://www.hymnjimsradio.com/1/post/2012/10/trick-or-treat.htmlHere we are at Halloween. No, I am not going to get into pro's and con's of whether or not Christians should celebrate the day. I am just going to remind you that the things the world has to offer you are all tricks. You may enjoy them but if it is not honoring to God it will trick you into thinking it is only a small thing, a little thing that God does not care about. That is a lie. God has told us He wants us pure and holy.
So if in your heart you have any wavering about Halloween, or any thing, it is time to get on your knees and pray until you are convinced in your heart what God wants from you. Don't be tricked by the world and those who love it. Instead let God teach you about Himself.
James 1:6
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

<![CDATA[Dry Times and Keepin' On Keepin' OnĀ ]]>Tue, 09 Oct 2012 17:36:26 GMThttp://www.hymnjimsradio.com/1/post/2012/10/dry-times-and-keepin-on-keepin-on.htmlIt is inevitable that if you have been a Christian for any length of time, you will experience times of spiritual drought. Keith Green wrote about this in his song, My Eyes Are Dry. In these times God is working in you just as much as when things are great. You may of heard people talking about Mountain top experiences and Valley experiences. God tells us in His Word that He will never leave us or forsake us, even though we may feel like that is the case. That is why we should never trust our feelings over Gods Truth, written in Gods Word.
A great help in times of this dryness, is to sing out loud. Whether you listen to HymnJimsRadio.com or your favorite songs on your music player, praising God in song is what David did and the Psalm writers did to express themselves to God Almighty. The Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people.
So whatever state you are in, on a mountain top, in a valley or somewhere in between, click on some good music and sing out to God as loud as you can and you will soon find yourself with a smile on your face, a lift in your spirit and a song in your heart.
Praise God.

<![CDATA[Do I Worry About Doctrinal Errors In Songs On HymnJimsRadio?]]>Wed, 04 Jul 2012 19:10:48 GMThttp://www.hymnjimsradio.com/1/post/2012/07/do-i-worry-about-doctrinal-errors-in-songs-on-hymnjimsradio.htmlIn today's world when every one who has access to a computer or a mobile device has a voice and can be heard by millions of people correct Biblical doctrine is very important. There are many false teachers out there and we must be aware of them.
When it comes to Christian music I wish every song could be written without error. That will never be the case because we are all human and subject to error. The Bible clearly tells us to avoid people who cause dissension and obstacles contrary to the doctrines we learned. Romans 16:17. If there is a musician who sings supposedly Christian songs but all of their songs are full of error I would avoid those songs. I would avoid so called Christian songs written by writers if I knew the person was living against the teachings of the Bible. There are some song writers I will not play on HymnJimsRadio because of their lifestyle and what they say about the Bible.
We must remember Christians songs are not on the same par as Scripture- which is inerrant. Songs may contain doctrinal errors because the person who wrote the song may be in error on a subject but I do not let that keep me from enjoying the song or worshiping God in Spirit and Truth. How can that be? Because when I sing along to a song I do not bring the songwriters theology into my thoughts. I bring my understanding of God, Jesus the Bible into the words. So I sing to God along with the song writer but we may have opposite understandings of what is being sung.
An example would be I would never play George Harrison's song "My Sweet Lord" on HymnJimsRadio. I could sing along to the song however if I heard it outside, in a store or someplace else. I would replace Hare Krishna with "Lord Jesus Christ" when it came to those words in the song.
I completely understand if someone was to tell that what I was doing was wrong. I do not have that conviction. I think we do similar things all day long, but that is just my opinion. I do not think a Christian invented computers but that doesn't stop me from using a computer to get the Word of God out to the world. So I believe I can use a song written by unbelievers, songs with errors in it as long as I do so with a heart set on Jesus Christ.
As a song leader for many years at church there were songs, hymns that were clearly against what our beliefs were at that church. What we did was try to figure a way to rewrite the words so it would be correct according to the Bible and we would sing it. If we could not do that we would not sing the song.
So I do the same thing with the songs on HymnJimsRadio.com. The rest is up to you, as a Christian, to allow the Holy Spirit to teach you as you walk in the Light, as you live in a fallen world and as you witness for Jesus Christ. I do not follow men as my aim is to please God in all I do, including the songs I play on HymnJimsRadio.
If you would like to discuss this more leave a comment or email me.
