In today's world when every one who has access to a computer or a mobile device has a voice and can be heard by millions of people correct Biblical doctrine is very important. There are many false teachers out there and we must be aware of them.
When it comes to Christian music I wish every song could be written without error. That will never be the case because we are all human and subject to error. The Bible clearly tells us to avoid people who cause dissension and obstacles contrary to the doctrines we learned. Romans 16:17. If there is a musician who sings supposedly Christian songs but all of their songs are full of error I would avoid those songs. I would avoid so called Christian songs written by writers if I knew the person was living against the teachings of the Bible. There are some song writers I will not play on HymnJimsRadio because of their lifestyle and what they say about the Bible.
We must remember Christians songs are not on the same par as Scripture- which is inerrant. Songs may contain doctrinal errors because the person who wrote the song may be in error on a subject but I do not let that keep me from enjoying the song or worshiping God in Spirit and Truth. How can that be? Because when I sing along to a song I do not bring the songwriters theology into my thoughts. I bring my understanding of God, Jesus the Bible into the words. So I sing to God along with the song writer but we may have opposite understandings of what is being sung.
An example would be I would never play George Harrison's song "My Sweet Lord" on HymnJimsRadio. I could sing along to the song however if I heard it outside, in a store or someplace else. I would replace Hare Krishna with "Lord Jesus Christ" when it came to those words in the song.
I completely understand if someone was to tell that what I was doing was wrong. I do not have that conviction. I think we do similar things all day long, but that is just my opinion. I do not think a Christian invented computers but that doesn't stop me from using a computer to get the Word of God out to the world. So I believe I can use a song written by unbelievers, songs with errors in it as long as I do so with a heart set on Jesus Christ.
As a song leader for many years at church there were songs, hymns that were clearly against what our beliefs were at that church. What we did was try to figure a way to rewrite the words so it would be correct according to the Bible and we would sing it. If we could not do that we would not sing the song.
So I do the same thing with the songs on HymnJimsRadio.com. The rest is up to you, as a Christian, to allow the Holy Spirit to teach you as you walk in the Light, as you live in a fallen world and as you witness for Jesus Christ. I do not follow men as my aim is to please God in all I do, including the songs I play on HymnJimsRadio.
